A new law came into effect over the last year that requires teachers and school volunteers to not only complete a CORI form but to also go through a fingerprinting check too. All volunteers, including field trip chaperons who have unrestricted access to students must have completed the fingerprinting process before assisting in school activities. The principal shall make the determination regarding this requirement based upon the role of the volunteer in accordance with the School Committee Policy. ADDA-1. Unlike a CORI form which needs to be completed every three years, this is only required once. Fingerprinting is a transferable process that can be used with other schools or organizations, unlike the CORI system that needs to be completed for separate groups.
